Truth or Consequences

By Al Mills A couple years ago I had some tearing in my eye that wouldn’t heal and was likely to lead to a detached retina.  My eye doctor alerted a local eye care institute and within a couple days, I was seeing an ophthalmologist.  A quick laser procedure that took about 20 minutes took care of the issue and at a follow up appointment a couple of weeks later, I had the privilege of […]

Get it on the Table!

By Al Mills In an episode of the TV show Friends, the gang is discussing another hit TV show; Three’s Company.  The friends are discussing a particular episode when Chandler (Matthew Perry), injects his usual sarcasm and asks “is that the one where there’s a misunderstanding of some sort?” As we all know, or at least anyone who is old enough, Three’s Company built an entire series on misunderstandings, silly assumptions, and innuendo.  Plenty of […]

Build a New House

By Al Mills In 1979 my parents purchased a farmhouse and an orchard field in Nova Scotia.  The house had been empty for a couple of years and it showed.  It was like a time capsule.  In the basement was a large wood furnace and a closet full of preserves in glass bottles (most of which fell victim to plinking sessions).  Dark wainscotting lined the hallways and equally dark were the banister and stairs.  Upstairs […]
